I am humbled and honored to serve as the Chair of the Foundation for Leon County Schools. Public service has been a part of my life while growing up and that has continued to be a large part of my life. I am the son of a retired school administrator; husband of Leon County Schools Director and I serve the public as a Law Enforcement Officer. Additionally, I have lived in Leon County for over 23 years and have a daughter graduating from Leon County Schools.
I firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of success, and the Foundation is a wonderful way to support our school system and the students they serve.
There are many events and initiatives that deserved to be highlighted to include Principal for a Day, Internet for All, EKG screening days, Karaoke for Kids, and the annual Foundation Golf Tournament.
I am particularly proud of the Innovative Teacher Grant program in which the Foundation was able to present over $150,000 to deserving teachers for innovative grants submitted and reviewed by the board. This is the largest amount of grants funds distributed in the 30 plus year history of the program.
The mission of the Foundation is to bring enriching programs and resources to Leon County Schools through business, individual and community engagement; increased public awareness; and dedicated fundraising.
I can attest that the members of the Foundation are fully “all in” and dedicated to carrying out the mission of the Foundation.
